You haven't missed much - 5/1/2010
Haven't done much skiing-wise since my last post. I've done a lot of other stuff such as building a new dock and a few major car repairs but not much behind the boat. That should change soon.
I did kick off the season here in Chicagoland 2 weeks ago with some barefooting behind Hollywood's 88 Ski Nautique. Lil' chop on the water made for some nasty falls, including one which ruptured my eardrum (again). I'm pretty sure it's healed by this point but not exactly the best way to "ring in" the season, if you will. I specifically recall floating on the water just before my last run thinking "Well, had a few runs and survived, maybe I'll just go back in the boat". I then recall overriding that initial "safe" thought with "ah, I'm already cold, wet, I drove all the way here, might as well give it another rip". Bad idea.
This weekend will be windy and rainy so I'll probably just take this opportunity to summer-ize the boat for its 10th season and do some stuff around the house.
The course is in at the club and at our public lake so all we have to do is add a boat, good weather, and people and we'll be off to the races. I'll be bringing my little video camera around with me as much as possible so I can take you guys with us via FifteenOffTV.
Also took what was mainly walk-around footage from our ski school trip and created a FifteenoffTV episode with it. Not the most exciting footage but it gives you a nice window into the experience.
