Nate Smith is an incredible skier. He has some things figured out that no one else seems to know. I spoke to one of his skiing partners in North Carolina at the tournament and he said Nate and Scott Tynan were just so dedicated in their skiing. Skiing in practically any weather conditions. I am surprised he doesn't already have a piece of the World Record since he runs 41 easier than anyone I've ever seen.

I totally agree.  I've been a big fan of Nate's skiing this year and got to see him in person this year at the Malibu Open.  He really makes 39 and 41 off look smoother than anyone else out there.  Just a matter of time before he takes that record.  I like this video of Nate from the Sac-Town Gold Rush tournament this year...you can really see how fast he's moving cross course when he's running 41.

Another thing I noticed is

Another thing I noticed is that at 39 and 41, he has virtually no "jerk" in his motion as he hooks back up to the handle after the turn.  If you look at other greats in this sport, they have a significant jerk as they hitch back up.  Nate is so smooth, its almost not there. In the video link above check out his offside 1.3.5, unbelievable!

His turn at 4 ball in that

His turn at 4 ball in that pass is sick though.  The ski totally hooked up with no tip rise at all.  I think he had too much speed at 5 though but he was so early in the pass it didn't make a difference.  Nate and CP run the smoothest 39s and 41s of anyone out there.

If you’re trying to convince your significant other to go to Ski Paradise with you and they seem resistant for any number of reasons - real or perceived - there is one thing that no one can deny about Ski Paradise - the food is fabulous! Each morning you will have option of making the early ski run (7:15 departure) or the later run (usually around 8:30).  If you’re on the... Fellow skiers, in all the years of posting on 15off I've finally hit the "big time" with some front page content!  I’ve pretty much decided that with this post I've already hit my waterskiing zenith for the year because nothing I do on the water will compare to the pure awesomeness of being a front page contributor to site dedicated to the largest population of skiers... Being a father has taught me a lot of things in life, including some very unexpected psychology lessons while attempting to introduce our kid to this sport. The picture above is our then-almost-3-year-old taking her first (and possibly last [!] run behind the boat) I'd like to tell that story, as well as my own childhood water skiing story in an attempt to drum up some conversation on the... We've talked at length in the past about barriers to entry and growing the sport. Those are great topics to talk about but in this post I just want to focus on how "cool" waterskiing is/has become based on my observations over the past 10 or so years. There are a number of people, organizations, and corporations who are injecting incredibly POSITIVE and FRESH mojo into the... Read more
