Malibu Open

I went up to the Open on Friday.  This is a really cool site to have a tournament.  I had a short conversation with Rossi.  Really nice guy and very approachable.  He said the conditionas were great and that it would not surprise him if someone set a record there.  Last year people were saying that the conditions were a little rough yet with the lack of rain this year the lagoon was down 2 feet or so which made the skiing better.  However, the water looked pretty nasty.  As Joel's tweet indicated, there was a lot of broken glass on the shore.  One jumper (Freddy maybe?) got a re-ride because he passed when he spotted a beer bottle floating in his path.  Hard to see stuff like that in the dirty water.  Joel, lots of good pics!

Joel, I viewed you pictures.  Nice job.  Maybe we'll see one in WSM.

There are a lot of things we like to dabble in when it comes to improving our skiing, but only a few really matter.  Here are 4 mistakes I think a lot of 15off skiers make.1 - The one-handed gate.  I first heard about the one-handed gate through the Edged in Water video where Marcus Brown explains it in the Extras.  There are quite a few skiers in my circle (including Dave... Once again, our own site member Anthony Warren (ScarletArrow) has brought us another interview. This time it's with Tony and Mari Colace, who are the INT directors for Ohio. Anthony drove out to meet these guys and transcribed this entire interview for us. He also included some video clips of the interview which I'll convert and add to the site shortly. Without further delay, I bring you... Read more

I've been watching a lot of pro video lately, including the longline runs Seth did for us back in 2008. One HUGE difference I'm noticing between their skiing and my skiing is width.Hop over to our videos section and watch Seth run 15@34. Then watch one of my recent videos. What's immediately apparent to me is that I'm letting go "early" because that's where physics... Read more

This is one of my favorite skiing accessories. Because I have a Trakker P4 camera mount, I know I will have perfect video of my skiing every time I'm out. It doesn't matter who is in the boat, who's driving, or what boat it's on. The video is going to rock every time, guaranteed. We do a lot of skiing with no spotter at all, so this little device allows me to get great video even in those... Read more
