Joel, please let us know what you think about the 50/50 rope.

I think this is a brilliant

I think this is a brilliant idea. Stretching rope is probably one of the biggest obstacles to longline and 15 off (and probably 22 as well) skiers. As we are learning to navigate the course, we need more rope but the properties of this longer rope make being smooth very difficult. Being clean and smooth is one of the biggest keys to skiing. Knowing what I think I know now, I would either get one of these ropes and use it....but I would also keep in my mind to ski with the other one at least some of the time, unless this starts becoming the standard which I predict it will.

Also, I hope US Gear provided

Also, I hope US Gear provided your mainline gratis for the review.  Of course they know that you are the face of the 15 off world, don't they?

Deke, I pretty much get

Deke, I pretty much get nothing for free here. Almost everything I review, I pay for. My credit card statement is still reeling from my S2 and I'll be talking that up quite a bit. Why manufacturers, who pay tens of thousands of dollars for display advertising don't see value in my reviews to proactively send me stuff is beyond me. That said, I haven't begged for, then gotten rejected by any manufacturers. I bet had I actually asked US Gear they would have arranged something. Buying it keeps the editorial pure, I guess.

Also, still have not gotten my rope! Ordered it 8/3.

Just got a reply from US Gear

Just got a reply from US Gear on the order- each rope is hand made and the ropes are very complex to fabricate.

Really nice to hear that something is still hand made in the USA! Can't wait to try this rope out.

Got out this morning to near-glass conditions on the course with Martho, Hollywood, and Jeff. One thing that's been clicking for me the past few times I've been out is keeping the upper body "up" in the turns rather than just falling over on my side and hoping that my ski grabs. It's been extremely helpful- my bouy count hasn't really gone up, but the way the ski turns is night and day. When done... Read more

Let me paint a scene for you: It's 06:30AM. You woke up at 05:30AM, pressed the snooze bar a couple times, prepped the boat with gear and trailered it to the lake. You're groggy, but a stop at the gas station for coffee and some gas for the boat helps. Friends are waiting at the ramp, and you don't want to be late regardless of how late you stayed up the night before. The lake is glass. No wind,... Read more

Haven't done much skiing-wise since my last post. I've done a lot of other stuff such as building a new dock and a few major car repairs but not much behind the boat. That should change soon. I did kick off the season here in Chicagoland 2 weeks ago with some barefooting behind Hollywood's 88 Ski Nautique. Lil' chop on the water made for some nasty falls, including one which ruptured my eardrum (... Read more

We had a great time last weekend at the Malibu Open in Milwaukee. Just like last year we once again made a whole weekend out of it and had a blast.Let's talk about Milwaukee for a second: clean, quaint, sufficiently urban without most of the inconviences of major metro areas. Big enough to be taken seriously, small enough for a suburbanite to fall in love with. Lakefront AND riverfront, great... Read more
