Looks to me like your trouble

Looks to me like your trouble starts with the turn-in. I see a tail-heavy turn-in which is most likely costing you width into 1-ball. Because of this you kinda ski right to 1-ball. Try to get a more balanced position in your turn-in so that you can use more of the ski to initiate a nice carve through the gates. For some of the guys on this site, just moving the hips first to initiate the direction change through the gates does this along with a nice balanced stance in the glide.

I see a lot of stuff I liked, particularly your position coming into 1 and 3.

Highlights:

14 seconds: the turn-in I'm talking about

16 seconds: I love this pre-turn position

22 seconds: I love this pre-turn position

What Joel said.  Everything

What Joel said.  Everything is fast and narrow right from the turn-in.  This causes you to rotate or dump right at the ball.  You ought to have more width and space before each ball.  Speed?  Line length?  I don't know what it is but I would just slow it down to where you can run it and work on all the basic timing and body position stuff.

BTW, are the the RipNsix that sent me a t-shirt a bunch of years ago?

1 - Don't hang out in the trough behind the boat.  Your negative one should always start at the whitewash.  This is likely preventing you from getting high enough on the boat for your roll-in for the gate.

2 - Take some video going in the other direction so you are not silhouetted against the sun.  I would like to see more of your body position but everything is dark.

Where do you start at? What lines/speeds do you run at what percentage?

This was my daughter Casey second run on a slalom ski back on July 28th (video below).  After turning 9 earlier in the month, she was one determined girl to get up on slalom because in her mind, she could now "ski with Seth" when we went on vacation later in August.  Hey, I'm all for it!Unfortunately for Casey, just a couple of weeks later she would fracture her foot in... Before I get started with this review, let's think of a few things that cost 85.00:  -A nice ski handle -A nice life jacket or neo top -Dinner with a couple drinks -1 concert ticket -1 bottle of Dom -1 tank of gas last summer -1 virtual coaching session on Proskicoach.com that will blow your mind As they say, priceless. I've swapped emails and ski vids with pros in the past and have been... Read more

Time is flying. Every time I sign the date on a check or on paperwork at the office I have to verify it with a co-worker and/or wired device of some sort- "Man, is it really [insert unbelievable date here]?". Time marches on relentlessly, seemingly without consideration of the fact that it JUST started feeling like summer in the midwest and without sympathy for the rapidly approaching... Read more

Yes, I'm a total ski-geek. That's me practicing my lean in the basement. We'll get back to that in a minute. I've had dozens of skiers who are far more talented than I am in the slalom course watch me ski over the years, and the first thing everyone says is "Dude- you have got to get those hips up". Trust me, I know. I know because I'm cheating a huge OTF fall every time I cross the wake on the... Read more
