(Above: It's hard to look "professional" at work while walking around in one of these.)

Wednesday morning I saw my surgeon and got my surgical cast off.

(hallelujah chorus)

I have to admit, I was kind of expecting to throw on my tennis shoe (do you call them "sneakers"?) and head off for my day.  Silly rabbit, trix are for kids.

Instead, I get to wear this blessed contraption for the next week or two until my ankle is strong enough to stand on its own. (I can limp around, but I’m pretty unstable).

I’ve never really had surgery before, so this is all new to me.  My ankle is really stiff!  I had my first PT session yesterday and after the Therapist loosened it up I could walk in an almost normal manner.

I have 4 weeks (8 sessions) of PT which takes me to April 4th.  I have my follow up visit with the surgeon on April 11th.  I’m leaving to go ski with Seth on April 12th (fingers crossed).  Nothing like cutting it close.

Right now the regimen is just stretching, therapy bands, icing, and ibuprofen.  Wish me luck!

Cast off - Boot on Hi

Cast off - Boot on

Hi Anthony,

I wore the same boot for 4 months (aug to dec). It's very tough to recover fitness for me because I have a lot of fractures in left foot. I'm looking for new bindings because I don't want to use my HO Approach again since my accident. I'm sure they are the reason of my injury.

I'm looking for Radar Strada '12.  What do you think about this bindings ?  Is it better if I'm buying hardshell boots like Goode Powershell ?

Good luck to you

Yves (from Montreal, CAN)

I guess you know you're starting to get old when you have DIGITAL pictures of stuff that occurred a decade ago. It's crazy and it's coming up all the time– the other day I was sitting around with my friends talking about some party we went to 9 years ago and sure enough I had pictures of the whole thing on my computer. Sigh. Where does the time go? I clearly remember selling my... Read more

Fellow skiers, in all the years of posting on 15off I've finally hit the "big time" with some front page content!  I’ve pretty much decided that with this post I've already hit my waterskiing zenith for the year because nothing I do on the water will compare to the pure awesomeness of being a front page contributor to site dedicated to the largest population of skiers...      There’s a reason why all of our skis, bindings, ropes, boats, etc. come with warning labels - slalom skiing is high risk.  If you ski with the aggressiveness and desire to pick up more buoys, sooner or later you are going to get hurt.Last week I wrote about how the Great Binding Catastrophe of 2011 is Over.  Well, that’s not entirely true because a significant part of... We had a great time last weekend at the Malibu Open in Milwaukee. Just like last year we once again made a whole weekend out of it and had a blast.Let's talk about Milwaukee for a second: clean, quaint, sufficiently urban without most of the inconviences of major metro areas. Big enough to be taken seriously, small enough for a suburbanite to fall in love with. Lakefront AND riverfront, great... Read more
